Nov. 19, 2024

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States, and the risk differs by race and ethnicity, geographic location and socioeconomic status. For example, Black Americans are 30% more likely to die from heart disease than white Americans. This session will provide an overview of health disparities in heart disease and dive into a variety of state legislative approaches to address these differences and improve health outcomes. Policy options will include access to screening programs, telehealth and self-monitoring, and provider and patient education and training.
